Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO), Nigeria’s Premier Private University, has proudly emerged as the Overall Best University at the Huawei ICT Competition Global Final, securing the esteemed International Grand Prize in the Network Track category.
The all-female Team IUO, representing Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, surpassed over 201,000 participants globally to achieve this remarkable honour.
The victory follows their earlier success in the Sub-Saharan Africa regional finals, where they also clinched the Grand Prize as the best team.
The talented duo, Okogbe Mary (Electrical Engineering) and Imafidon Victoria Esohe (Cybersecurity), were also awarded the Women in Tech Award, marking a historic moment as the first all-female team from Nigeria to win both regional and global Grand Prizes in the competition.
With this achievement, Igbinedion University, Okada, stands as the first private university in Nigeria to accomplish such a feat.
