A testament to its unwavering pursuit of academic excellence, the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has garnered full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) across its entire spectrum of degree programmes.
This accomplishment, realized under the stewardship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Edoba Omoregie SAN, underscores the institution’s dedication to both scholastic excellence and providing exceptional education.
The accreditation followed a successful evaluation by the NUC in October and November of the previous year, which covered various faculties, schools, and centers within the university.
The NUC communicated the results in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, dated April 7th, 2026.
Professor Edoba Omoregie SAN, the Vice-Chancellor, expressed his delight with the outcome, attributing the success to the dedication and hard work of the university’s management and staff.
He also acknowledged their commitment to academic excellence and the promotion of high educational standards and values.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the University’s Senate, Faculties, Departments, and relevant committees for their diligent work towards achieving this goal.
Professor Omoregie reiterated his determination to the strengthening of the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes as outlined in his 5-point agenda.
A statement signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Benedicta Ehanire PhD, disclosed that the full accreditation status of the University is for five years (till 2030).
