The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) inducted 29 newly qualified medical doctors at Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) on Monday, marking the institution’s 20th induction ceremony.
Speaking Ag. Dean , School of Clinical Medicine, Igbinedion University Okada, Dr. (Mrs) Imesidayo Eboreime-Oikeh disclosed that 29 inductees comprising 10 males and 19 females were graduating as newly qualified medical doctors at the 20th Oath-Taking/Induction Ceremony for newly qualified medical doctors of the 2024/2025 session.
Vice-Chancellor, Igbinedion University Okada,Prof Lawrence Ezemonye emphasized the importance of the event, stating that it provided the institution with the opportunity to welcome a new generation of well-trained physicians and nation-builders into the esteemed medical profession.
Represented by DVC, Prof Raphael Adeghe, the Vice-Chancellor, urged the inductees to uphold the Hippocratic Oath, reminding them of its significance and the promises it entails.
“You are not just becoming practicing doctors. You are becoming custodians of Nigeria’s future. The road ahead is demanding, but you are equipped. You are Igbinedion-trained. You are resilient. You are the strategic assets we have been waiting for .
“Go forth and build. Build infrastructure, instigate the needed advancement in our health sector, and in doing so, help build a healthier and more prosperous Nigeria. “Ezemonye said.
On his part, Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Edo State Branch, Dr. Eustace Oseghale tasked the inductees on professionalism while delivering the induction lecture with the theme, ‘A doctor and a Fulfilling Life .””
