
A student of Kogi State Polytechnic, Miss Dorcas Omotosho, has reportedly died while attempting to abort a six-month pregnancy.
It was learnt that the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at a private clinic known as Al-Hassan Clinic and Maternity, located in the Sarkin Noma community, Lokoja, Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State.
Findings revealed that the 26-year-old deceased student had sought the services of the private clinic to have her six-month-old pregnancy aborted. The abortion was successfully carried out, but the medical personnel could not stop the bleeding after the abortion. “And she bled to death,” said the source.
It was learnt that a police officer invited to the clinic took recordings of the deceased before her remains were moved to the mortuary of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) Lokoja.
The owner of the clinic has also been arrested and detained at the state CID Lokoja by the police for investigation.
When contacted, management of the Kogi State Polytechnic stated that they were not aware of the incident. The Director, Public Relations and Protocol, Uredo Omale said, The school is not aware because the students are on holiday at the moment.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Williams Ovye, could not be reached for confirmation as his line was not accessible at the time of sending this report.
