As the world commemorates World Mental Health Day , the Starburg Empowerment Foundation has urged the public to stop the stigmatization of those suffering from mental health challenges.
This is even as the organization donated medical supplies including drugs and cash sum to the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Benin to commemorate the 2024 Workd Mental Health Day.
Co-founder of the organization, Bakare Gloria gave said the NGO was committed to the wellbeing of the mentally ill patient in the country and took the decision
sensitize the public on World Mental Health Day 2024 ,with the theme ” Prioritizing Mental Health In Work Place”
She urged those with mental health disorders to come out as there is still hope for recovery. “They do not need to give up on themselves or take things that will further compound the problems they are going through. Our organization is out to tell the people that with one accord, they can rebuild the broken bridges.
Bakare however listed some challenges that trigger mental mental to include, raped victims, family problems, substance use or addiction, drunkenness and unnecessary violence amongst others.
Declaring that all hands must be on deck. Bakare said another of persons estimated at over 70 percent in the society are not aware of the issues of mental health.
According to her, this ignore6 had continued to plaguing the society and all hands must be on deck to reduce the scourge and to abstain
from activities that will trigger mental health.
