Igbinedion University Celebrates Over 3000 Successful Law Graduates, Including Senior Advocates of Nigeria
The Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, proudly announced that the institution has produced over 3,000 law graduates who are excelling in their respective fields, with some achieving the prestigious status of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). This milestone was highlighted during the valedictory ceremony for the 2023–2024 graduating law students of the Oba Erediauwa College of Law, Igbinedion University Okada, in Edo State.
Prof. Ezemonye emphasized the university’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s higher education landscape as the nation’s first private university. He noted that the institution has maintained a commendable profile of excellence, particularly in the field of law. The Vice-Chancellor mentioned the remarkable performance of Igbinedion University law graduates at the Nigerian Law School, where last year, they recorded three First Class honors and several Second Class Upper honors.
Addressing the 2023–2024 graduating law students, Prof. Ezemonye assured them that they have been thoroughly equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. He challenged them to excel at the Nigerian Law School and to distinguish themselves as their predecessors had done.
“The Oba Erediauwa College of Law is a flagship of Igbinedion University, Okada, established at the inception of the university in 1999. Since then, the college has consistently maintained a commendable profile of excellence in all aspects. The College has so far produced well over 3,000 law graduates who are excelling in their various callings, some of whom have become Senior Advocates of Nigeria,” Prof. Ezemonye stated.
In addition to Prof. Ezemonye’s remarks, Prof. Jomoh Nureni Soladoye, a renowned legal expert and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), delivered a lecture titled “The Role of Youths in Democratic Governance in Developing Countries.” He urged the youth to embrace leadership positions to promote good governance in Nigeria.
This celebration of Igbinedion University’s achievements underscores its pivotal role in shaping the future of legal education and contributing to the development of Nigeria’s legal landscape.
