The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man allegedly found in possession of a severed female breast in the Awada area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Samuel Eze, was apprehended on July 6 by a joint patrol team, according to a statement released on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga. The recovered human body part has been deposited in a morgue as investigations continue.
In a separate operation, officers attached to the command’s Rapid Response Squad rescued a kidnapped truck driver and recovered goods worth more than ₦9.5 million.
The rescue took place at approximately 12:45 p.m. on July 4 following a tip-off. Three suspects—Udegenyi Ugochukwu (38), Anayochukwu Okonkwo (47), and Good Odigili (47)—were arrested in connection with the case.
According to the police, the suspects confessed to hijacking a truck loaded with custard powder that was intended for delivery in Asaba, Delta State. The driver was reportedly tied up and abandoned in a bush while the goods were diverted to Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State.
In another development, a suspected stolen vehicle—a custom-coloured Toyota Sienna with registration number 736 JP and an inscription reading “Forum of Accountants, Delta State”—was recovered on July 5 during a patrol along Okpuno-Umuota village in Obosi.
Ikenga urged anyone with verifiable proof of ownership of the recovered vehicle to contact the police command for identification and possible retrieval.
He added that the command would continue with joint security patrols as part of ongoing efforts to address criminal activity in the state.
