In a sweeping initiative designed to ensure the safety of all residents, the administration of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is implementing a security strategy that leaves no haven for criminals within Edo state, guaranteeing citizens can conduct their lives with assured peace of mind.
Chief Festus Ebea, Edo State’s Commissioner for Safety and Security, made this known at the weekend.
He stated that the governor’s proclamation—Edo will offer no sanctuary to criminals—is demonstrably true.
According to Ebea, “Governor Okpebholo’s primary objective from the start has been the restoration of tranquility and the establishment of a crime-free Edo. We are intensifying intelligence-led operations, orchestrating focused raids on known criminal epicenters, and dismantling the drug cartels that stimulate destructive behavior among our youth. This government is resolved to extirpate drug traffickers and other criminals from their lairs, ensuring a harmonious and secure society.”
He stated further that the Okpebholo administration is pledged to equip security agencies with the necessary resources and support, amplifying their operational effectiveness.
Ebea emphasized that the strategy encompasses investments in cutting-edge equipment, advanced technology, and specialized training programs, thereby ensuring law enforcement personnel are thoroughly prepared to confront burgeoning security threats.
“Furthermore, we are fortifying our alliances with community representatives, traditional leaders, and youth organizations, thereby cultivating a culture of vigilance and collaborative information exchange. Given that security represents a shared imperative, we are convinced that concerted action will foster a safer, more secure environment for every inhabitant of Edo State,” Ebea stated.
The commissioner restated the government’s determination to maintain momentum in the battle against crime and implored residents to uphold the law and relay any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
“Security operations are ongoing across the state to tackle cultism and related violent crime. Through coordinated raids and arrests, we are disrupting these networks. At the same time, we support efforts that redirect youth from criminal influence toward positive livelihoods,” he said.
