Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Edo State Governor, has reaffirmed Governor Monday Okpebholo’s dedication to forging a New Edo that promotes transparency and open governance.
The governor Monday Okpebholo led administration, he asserted, stands ready to collaborate closely with media outlets to ensure the state’s comprehensive progress.
This pledge inaugurates an era of strengthened collaboration and openness between the government and the press—cornerstones for a well-informed citizenry and responsible governance.
Dr. Ebojele spoke at a reception held in his honour on Friday at the NUJ Press Centre in Benin City, which drew journalists and media representatives from both established and emerging digital platforms, underscoring the deepening partnership between the state and its news purveyors.
The gathering stood as a tribute to the critical role of a robust, independent media in a democratic society, coupled with the government’s eagerness for constructive dialogue.
According to the CPS, his core responsibility lies in ensuring journalists gain unfettered access to information vital for reporting on the governor’s SHINE Agenda.
This, he stated, will occur within a climate defined by transparency, professional conduct, and accessible governance.
“This recognition from the media fraternity resonates deeply. It fortifies my commitment to serving with integrity, transparency, and the highest standards of professionalism,” Ebojele stated.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing the provision of essential resources and support to the media, empowering them to execute their duties effectively.
He also acknowledged their pivotal function in keeping the populace well-informed and holding those in authority accountable.
