
Former Chairman of Esan North-East local government council, Hon. John Yakubu today appreciated members and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the National Delegates election to elect the party candidate in the August 16 senatorial by-election in the state.
Yakubu described his victory as God ordained and thanked the people for believing in him and assuring them that their trust would never be taken for granted
Yakubu recorded victory over Hon. Joe Okojie, Ex-Edo State Commissioner of Agriculture, during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Delegates election to elect the party candidate in the August 16 senatorial by-election in the state.
The PDP delegates’ primary took place at the party secretariat, along Mission Road, Uromi, headquarters of Esan North-East local government area.
It was gathered from delegates at the venue that when Mr. Goddy Ogun on the side of Hon. Joe Okojie noted Alhaji Isiwele who is on the side of Hon. John Yakubu was coasting home to victory immediately withdrew from the race for fear of being humiliated.
Speaking to journalists at the venue, Hon. John Yakubu said upon the conspiracy to deny him of his victory at the National Delegates election, members of our great party who believe in my candidacy stood their ground to ensure that I come out victorious at the National Delegates election.
“Yakubu who recalled the drama at the venue of the primary said, “By the time the delegates enter into the venue to cast their vote, when my opponent noted that I was heading to victory with the number of the voters on my side, he (Joe Okojie) quickly prevailed on Mr. Goddy Ogun who is on the side to withdraw from the race.
“Upon the delay of the election for over three hours, I still come out victorious.
“I want to use this medium to appreciate the great PDP people Esan North-East for their trust in me and assuring them that their trust would never be taken for granted.”
The primaries will produce candidates to fly the party’s flag for the Edo Central Senatorial District by-election.
