A former lawmaker and erstwhile speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Hon
Francis Okiye has been bestowed with an Award of Excellence by the Nigeria Economic Society (NES) Edo State Chapter .
The event, which was held at the University of Benin, had the political leader showered with encomiums for his commitment to national development.

Okiye said he was honored by the award and noted that the honour is a call to service.
He hailed the Nigeria Economic Society (NES) Edo State Chapter for being a credible research body dedicated to promoting knowledge, research, and development (R&D).
Okiye assured of his support to the Nigeria Economic Society (NES), adding that he believed in supporting the academia to drive research and development.
The APC chieftain, while full of appreciation to the Nigeria Economic Society (NES) for the honour, explained that his doors remained open at all times to contribute to knowledge discourse now and in the future.
