
A People Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Edo Central Senatorial District by-election, Hon. John Yakubu has celebrated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, expressing optimism that there is hope for a better and united country with good leadership.

Yakubu who expressed confidence that the country’s return to Democracy is for the good of all, noted that today’s commemoration of Democracy Day, without doubt, signposts a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest for stable polity; considering the trajectory of political events since independence in 1960 and particularly since the June 12, 1993 presidential election adjudged to be the freest and fairest ever in the history of elections in Nigeria.
He said Nigeria would be great again despite the present state of the country and the biting economy.
Hon. John Yakubu said celebration of the day requires a reflection of where we are coming from as a people and nation and urged for support for government at all levels to drive national development and the enthronement of good governance.
While calling on all and sundry, particularly the ruling class and politicians, to make sacrifice for the betterment the country, he said there is an urgent need to ensure the unity, peace, and progress of the country.
The former Chairman of Esan North-East local government council said, “On behalf of my family and the good people of Edo State, I wish all our country, Edo State and Edo Central Senatorial District a happy and peaceful Democracy Day celebration.”
