BTC Secretary Frank Irabor Denies Aiding Deposed Edo Community Priest
The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) Secretary, Mr. Frank Irabor on Friday denied allegations of aiding the now-deposed Ohen (Priest) of Okhuoromi, Kelvin Ovbokhan Igbinovia, following allegations bothering on property demolition in Okhuoromi community.
The Ohen (Priest) of Okhuoromi, Kelvin Ovbokhan Igbinovia, was yesterday deposed by the Oba of Benin, HRM. Oba Ewuare II over a series of misdeeds. In a statement signed and made available to newsmen dated May 16, 2025, Irabor noted that the allegations that he visited the community four days before the protest and got rewarded with one of the lands housing the demolished buildings by the chief priest, is "entirely false and baseless." Some residents of Okhuoromi Community had protested carrying placards with the inscription " Frank Irabor stop supporting evil act," which the Benin Traditional Council (BTC) Secretary Frank Irabor is denied.
Victor Aigbe John Edosomwna, the leader of the protesters, had publicly claimed that Irabor was rewarded with a plot of land measuring 100 feet by 50 feet in the area that was demolished However, worried by the public outcry over the allegations and the need to uphold his integrity, Frank Irabor has given Victor Aigbe John Edosomwan, a 7-days ultimatum to provide evidence to support the allegations or retract the claims.
Irabor who has strongly denied any involvement in aiding or protecting the Ohen(Priest) of Okhoromi in demolishing properties or engaging in any unlawful activities has appealed to the relevant authorities to investigate the allegation and take action against those spreading false information.
Irabor expressed confidence that a thorough investigation would reveal the truth and clear his name of the baseless allegation.
