A Kano Upper Shari’a Court has ordered the remand of Harira Muhammad over alleged matrimonial affairs with two men simultaneously.
Muhammad was dragged before the Islamic jury by Sagiru Shuaibu, who claimed to have married his wife six months ago but suddenly discovered that Muhammad was having affairs with another man.
Although Shuaibu said he lives separately from his wife, he told the court how he stumbled upon another man in his matrimonial bed when he visited his wife’s apartment.
The claimed real husband said he immediately alerted the neighbors within the vicinity to attest to the development, he told the court.
“I have married Harira Muhammad for the last six months and have been living separately. It was during one of my visits to her that I found a man on my matrimonial bed,” Shuaibu told the court.
Appearing before the Shari’a Judge, Khadi Munzali Tanko Soron-Dinki, the respondent denied being married to her first husband, who dragged her to court.
The situation, however, took a fresh twist when the Judge ordered her to take an oath by the Holy Qur’an, only for the respondent to retract her earlier stance and confess in affirmation.
Meanwhile, the second husband, Bello Abdullahi Yankaba, who also told the court that he married Muhammad recently with the consent of her uncle, Abdullahi Umar, and with a dowry of N100,000, was paid.
Having heard the submission of all parties, the Judge, Khadi Munzali Tanko Soron-Dinki, directed the police to conduct further investigation into the matter.
He, however, ordered that the woman and the second husband be remanded in a correctional facility and adjourned the case until May 16 for further hearing.
