The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has strongly condemned the assault on Juliet Enabulele, a reporter with the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), by Kelly Okungbowa (Ebo Stone) during a public event in Benin City on December 3, 2025. This incident is viewed as a direct attack on press freedom and the safety of journalists, undermining their right to perform their duties without fear or violence.
The NUJ emphasizes that such attacks on journalists will not be tolerated and urges the public, particularly public figures, to respect the vital role of the media in democracy and accountability.
Additionally, the Union calls on the Nigeria Police and relevant security agencies to promptly investigate this matter and ensure justice is served.
