The Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, has urged engineering graduates to become, “entrepreneurs of solutions,” emphasizing that the university has equipped them with a solid foundation.
Ezemonye gave the charge on Tuesday during the First Oath-Taking/Induction Ceremony for the 2024/2025 session, where he charged the graduates to be transformative figures in their fields while adhering to the highest ethical standards in the engineering profession.
Ezemonye highlighted that maintaining ethical integrity is a core value of the institution, urging graduates to be exemplary ambassadors of Igbinedion University.
He reminded the inductees that success in their profession requires not only technical skills but also strategic thinking, ethical leadership, and compassionate innovation.
“Inductees, you are entering a profession where you must be more than just technically competent. You must be strategic thinkers, ethical leaders, and compassionate innovators.
“Igbinedion University has provided with a foundation, but the building you erect upon it is your life’s work. As you step out, I charge you to be entrepreneurs of solutions.
“Do not just look for jobs, create them. Identify problems and engineer businesses around solving them. Collaborate across disciplines. Uphold the highest ethical standards and be life-long changers.”Ezemonye said.
Dean, College of Engineering, Igbinedion University Okada, Prof. Rowland Azike said the institution has graduated 1,520 students who are doing very well in their various field of engineering.
“Today , we are inducting 61 graduates from six of our programmes. 16 of them made first class. You are the lucky set to kick start the induction of Engineering graduates in Igbinedion University by COREN. “Azike said.

(COREN), Prof. Sadiq Abubakar, represented by Prof. Sunny Onohaebi tasked the graduates on professionalism just as the Registrar of COREN, Engr. Prof. Okorie Austine Uche, represented by Engr. Abohi Stanley performed the oath- taking on the graduates.
Engr. Solomon Emhonbotiti, while
delivering the induction lecture titled, ” The Strategic Roles of Engineers In Advancing National Development Amid Insecurity And Economic challenges.”tasked the graduates to be part of the solution to repositioning the engineering sector.
